Austin’s The Black Angels are heading to Australia for the first time this June and July. The band will be bringing their hazy vocals and wall of guitars to the country in support of their third album ‘Phosphene Dream’, which has seen the band continue their tradition of psychedelic dreamy indie rock. The sultry neo-psychedelic sound of the Black Angels came together in spring 2004. Hailing from... Read the full story

Leon Russell & Little Feat – The Palais

As a sideshow from the Bluesfest there probably wasn’t a great deal of flexibility about the date of this show. But there’s no doubt that having the concert on Easter Monday, in the middle of the longest of long weekends probably contributed to the relatively disappointing turnout for this remarkable pairing of legendary artists. Those who weren’t there, missed out. The first half of the Little... Read the full story

Teeth and Tongue

Melbourne based band Teeth and Tongue are about to release their second album ‘Tambourine’. The band is a vehicle for Jess Cornelius, an interesting artist who seems, from my perspective, to draw from the art-rock-pop sensibilities of the likes of Roxy Music and Bowie. Cornelius is a star in her own right but in this configuration she’s joined by Marc Regueiro-Mckelvie on guitar and Damian... Read the full story

Our favorite gothic/country/horror swallywags Graveyard Train are embarking on an Australian tour co-inciding with the release of a new single, Dead Folk Dance. (I wonder if that refers to dead people dancing, or a very subdued folk dance style) The single will be released as a limited edition 7” single, which will be launched at Hi-Fi Bar in Melbourne. The following description from the bands performance... Read the full story
